My parents were here this weekend, and my dad helped out a ton. As in, saved us probably a few day's work since it's easier to work with two guys, and having me watch Annamarie alone.
I'll post photos as the rooms are updated. So for now, just a small peak at two of them.
So far we've updated the chandelier, put in an over the oven range microwave, put in 3 new ceiling lights, painted two bedrooms and one accent wall, put in a new washer, fixed many of the electrical outlets and a few odds and ends. Still some things to go, like moving a fan, more electrical outlets, changing out the vanity top in the bathroom (currently is this very retro blue and white floral print which my mom calls "cute") maybe some other things I'm forgetting..
But anyways, it looks like home. And we're very happy. Glad we didn't get a huge fixer-upper, as just these small updates are hard enough with a toddler! I can't imagine a huge overhaul like we had once thought we'd do. We thought we'd buy a cheaper house and update ourselves. We're both glad we didn't, as this is enough work as it is.
On to pictures!
As a recap, living room before

And now! (I made the pillows, the ones that came with the couch were horrid) And there's a piano behind the loveseat

Dining room before (horrid grape motif chandelier and all)

Now, we'll probably put down a darker colored area rug for now since we don't want to deal with sanding the hardwood at this point

And then a cute one of Annamarie helping me decorate the tree. Now she mostly undecorates it...

More pictures will come as the other rooms come together. Some parts are still rather a mess of boxes and totes.

The living room looks great! It's it amazing how swapping out a light fixture can change the room so dramatically? We had some awful fixtures when we moved into this house and just swapping them out made a BIG difference.
Very nice!
Wow! Beautiful job!
The house looks great!! Love those pillows! Amazing what furniture can do to a room!
this has been so fun to see. Thanks for sharing!
It's so rewarding to see progress isn't it? I hope your unpacking process goes well, it can be such a pain. Especially when you just want to enjoy your house!
It all looks perfect!
